M-tee GFX is a fellow NES game graphics/animations artist/illustrator whose works i admire. The blog also has some great articles and assets.
NES programming usually means coding 6502 assembly language, but NESDOUG shows it can be done in C.
Related gigs aside, I wouldn’t have done a single NES asset if it weren’t for the existence of the NESDEV site and community. If you desperately need a hobby that will consume your spare time, go read the wiki, print out some good old manuals and tutorials, and search the forums.
